My experience at ACC was exceptional. I learned a great deal from my professors and the invaluable experience of my practicum. My professors facilitated both my personal and professional growth. I am now working as a Counselor Intern and will test soon for my LCDC. I cannot say enough positive things about this wonderful program and I am deeply grateful to Austin Community College.<\/p>\nI knew I wanted to help serve others that suffer from my disease. I also knew that at 50 years old it would be difficult and I felt overwhelmed. The Professional Human Services Staff at the ACC Rio Grande campus stood by me throughout my entire schooling. They guided me, encouraged me and made me feel successful. I now have an Associates Degree in Addictions Counseling and am an LCDCI with a local non-profit helping those I\u2019ve always wanted to help. Thank You ACC!<\/p>\nA few years ago, I had the privilege of working on my associate degree in the Addiction Counseling program at Austin Community College. This program not only gave me the knowledge of substance abuse needed to become an addictions counselor, but it was also experiential. The growth that happened within me was life changing. As a result of being a part of this program, I feel more knowledgeable, more empathic, and more connected with the addictions community.<\/p>\n
